1. Information We Collect

The information collected depends on how you use SquidSwift.

Website Information

When you visit squidswift.com, Desoline and authorized service providers may process technical information such as:

• Browser type
• Operating system
• Device information
• Referring website or advertising source
• Pages visited and website interactions
• Download interactions
• Date and time information
• Cookie or similar technology identifiers, where applicable
• Advertising attribution and conversion information

We do not collect or store your IP address.

SquidSwift Application Telemetry

When the SquidSwift application launches, it sends a limited telemetry event to Desoline over HTTPS. This may contain:

• A random per-install identifier
• SquidSwift application version
• Operating system version

Desoline uses this information to understand installation counts and general application usage. The identifier is generated on your PC and is not intentionally associated by Desoline with your name or email address.

The telemetry does not intentionally contain your videos, images, audio, project files, file names, captions, transcripts, or any other media content you create or edit.

Your Videos, Media, and Projects

SquidSwift is designed so that importing, editing, applying effects, and exporting happen locally on your PC. This includes:

• Video, image, and audio files you import
• Project files and timelines
• Exported videos
• AI features such as auto-captions, speech transcription, and background removal, which run on your device

Desoline does not intentionally receive, view, or store this content.

Camera, Microphone, and Screen Recording

If you use SquidSwift’s screen, webcam, or microphone recording features, the application accesses those sources only while you are recording, and only after you have allowed access in Windows. Recordings are saved locally to your PC and are not transmitted to Desoline. You can manage camera and microphone access at any time under Windows Settings → Privacy & security.

Updates and Optional Downloads

When SquidSwift checks for updates or downloads optional content (such as effect packs, templates, or on-device AI models), the request includes basic technical information such as the application version. It does not include your media content, and we do not collect or store your IP address.

Support Communications

If you contact us, we receive the information you choose to give us, such as your email address, the content of your message, and any attachments you include.

2. How We Use Information

Desoline may process information to:

• Operate and maintain SquidSwift
• Provide downloads, updates, and application functionality
• Count installations and understand general application usage
• Analyze website traffic
• Measure downloads, conversions, and advertising campaign effectiveness
• Perform advertising attribution
• Improve SquidSwift and detect technical problems
• Maintain security and prevent fraud or abuse
• Respond to support requests
• Comply with legal obligations
• Protect Desoline, SquidSwift, our users, and third parties

3. Legal Bases for Processing

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, Desoline relies on one or more of the following:

• Consent: for analytics, advertising cookies, tracking technologies, or other activities where consent is legally required.
• Contractual necessity: where processing is necessary to provide functionality you request.
• Legitimate interests: such as maintaining and improving SquidSwift, measuring service performance, understanding usage, protecting our services, preventing abuse, and maintaining security, where those interests are not overridden by your privacy rights.
• Legal obligations: where processing is necessary to comply with applicable laws, regulations, or lawful requests.

Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw consent as described below.

4. Cookies and Similar Technologies

The SquidSwift website may use cookies and similar technologies for:

• Essential website functionality
• Remembering preferences
• Analytics and traffic measurement
• Advertising attribution and conversion measurement
• Security

SquidSwift uses Google Analytics and Microsoft Advertising technologies on its website. Where required by applicable law, technologies that need consent are only activated according to the choices you make in the website’s consent banner. You can accept or reject non-essential tracking technologies there, and you can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

5. Google Analytics

SquidSwift may use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the website. Depending on configuration, consent, and applicable law, Google may process information such as browser and device information, website interactions, pages visited, referral information, and approximate geographic information.

Desoline uses analytics information to understand website usage and improve SquidSwift. Where required by applicable law, including in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, analytics cookies and identifiers are only used with your consent.

Google processes information according to its own privacy terms. You can learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and you can opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

6. Microsoft Advertising and Universal Event Tracking (UET)

SquidSwift uses Microsoft Advertising technology to understand how visitors reach the SquidSwift website and to measure advertising performance and conversions.

Where Microsoft Universal Event Tracking (“UET”) or another Microsoft Advertising tracking technology is implemented, Microsoft may collect or receive personal data from users of squidswift.com. Depending on configuration and consent, this may include IP address, browser and device information, website interactions, pages visited, referring information, advertising interactions, conversion events, cookie or advertising identifiers, and other technical information associated with advertising measurement.

Desoline may use this information to:

• Measure Microsoft Advertising campaign performance
• Understand whether users arrived through Microsoft advertisements
• Measure downloads and other conversions
• Attribute conversions to advertising campaigns
• Analyze and improve advertising effectiveness

Information collected or received by Microsoft is processed according to Microsoft’s own privacy practices, described in the Microsoft Privacy Statement. You can manage personalized advertising from Microsoft at account.microsoft.com/privacy/ad-settings.

Where consent is required by applicable law, the Microsoft Advertising tag is subject to your consent choice. Desoline does not intentionally transmit names, email addresses, telephone numbers, mailing addresses, passwords, media content, or other directly identifying information to Microsoft through UET.

7. Advertising and Marketing Data Sharing

SquidSwift may use advertising and measurement providers to promote SquidSwift and evaluate advertising campaign performance. These providers may receive or process technical and usage information to measure advertisement interactions, attribute website visits, measure downloads and conversion events, prevent advertising fraud, and produce advertising performance reports.

Where applicable, individual end-user tracking and data sharing with advertising or measurement providers may occur for these purposes.

Desoline does not sell personal information for money. If any processing constitutes a “sale,” “sharing,” or targeted advertising under applicable law, Desoline will provide legally required notices and opt-out mechanisms.

8. Third-Party Services

SquidSwift may interact with or rely on third-party providers, including services used for:

• Website hosting
• Application distribution
• Analytics and advertising measurement
• Security
• Software updates and optional content downloads
• Technical infrastructure

For example, SquidSwift may use infrastructure providers such as GitHub or cloud content-delivery networks for application releases, update checks, and optional downloads. The SquidSwift Windows application is distributed as a direct download from squidswift.com and is not distributed through the Microsoft Store.

SquidSwift does not include third-party advertising inside the application and does not share your media content with third parties.

Third-party providers may process information according to their own privacy policies and agreements.

9. Sharing of Personal Information

Desoline may disclose information to service providers when reasonably necessary to operate SquidSwift. We may also disclose information where necessary to:

• Comply with applicable laws or regulations
• Respond to lawful governmental requests
• Comply with legal proceedings
• Investigate security incidents or fraud
• Protect the rights, property, and safety of Desoline, users, or others
• Enforce applicable agreements

Information may also be transferred as part of a merger, acquisition, restructuring, financing, asset sale, or similar corporate transaction, subject to applicable law.

10. Your Choices and Consent

• Website tracking: use the website’s consent banner to accept or decline analytics and advertising technologies, and manage cookies in your browser settings.
• Withdrawing consent: where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time. This does not affect processing that lawfully occurred before withdrawal.
• Camera and microphone: allow or block SquidSwift’s access under Windows Settings → Privacy & security.
• Uninstalling: you can remove SquidSwift at any time under Windows Settings → Apps → Installed apps. Uninstalling stops all application telemetry. Your own media and project files remain on your PC unless you delete them.

11. Privacy Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

• Request access to personal data
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion
• Request restriction of processing
• Object to certain processing
• Withdraw consent
• Request portability of certain information
• Opt out of targeted advertising, sale, or sharing, where applicable
• Lodge a complaint with a data-protection authority

Users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland have these rights under the GDPR and equivalent laws. Residents of California and other U.S. states with comprehensive privacy laws may have similar rights under those laws. Rights may vary by jurisdiction and may be subject to legal exceptions.

12. Data Retention

Desoline retains information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, including operating SquidSwift, measuring installations and usage, maintaining security, providing support, resolving disputes, meeting legal requirements, and enforcing agreements.

Different categories of information may have different retention periods. Information that is no longer required may be deleted or anonymized, subject to applicable legal requirements.

13. International Data Transfers

Desoline and its service providers may process information outside the country where you reside. Third-party providers such as Microsoft, Google, GitHub, or other infrastructure providers may process information in multiple countries.

Where required by applicable law, Desoline takes appropriate measures relating to international transfers of personal information. Third-party providers may use their own legally recognized transfer mechanisms as described in their respective privacy policies.

14. Data Security

Desoline uses reasonable administrative, organizational, and technical safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, misuse, loss, or destruction. Telemetry and other communications containing personal data are transmitted using HTTPS where applicable.

No internet transmission, network, or electronic storage method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

15. Children’s Privacy

SquidSwift is a general-audience video editing tool and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). Desoline does not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable privacy law, including the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

Desoline does not knowingly create advertising audiences or remarketing lists that specifically target individuals under 18.

If we learn that personal information relating to a child was collected in circumstances requiring parental consent or otherwise contrary to applicable law, we will take appropriate steps as required by law. Parents or guardians may contact us at support@desoline.com.

16. Sensitive Personal Data

Desoline does not intentionally collect or use sensitive personal data through SquidSwift for advertising personalization or audience profiling.

Your videos, recordings, voice, and likeness in your media are processed on your device and are not intentionally transmitted to Desoline for any purpose, including advertising or AI model training.

17. Changes to This Privacy Policy

Desoline may update this Privacy Policy as SquidSwift changes, our providers change, or legal requirements evolve. The “Last Updated” date will be updated whenever this Privacy Policy is revised.

Where required by applicable law, Desoline will provide additional notice or request consent for material changes.
